This was a very worthwhile learning experience. I enjoyed my discoveries, particularly flickr, youtube, and online image generators. In my opinion, the "rss" took more time than I expected. It probably varies from person to person. I like to explore things, and so I went down many side-tracks along the way...some more time-consuming than others. yes... I am definitely going to do something like this again...

Week 9, # 22
I created a netLibrary account and searched for e books in the library collection. E books are very good because many users can download one book at one time by downloading them, which makes it very easy when availability of book is limited. Another reason it is good since it is a very good way to preserve old books because digital copies can easily be copied from one computer to another which makes one good copy of book un-damageable. Almost all of the popular books are available as books to download so everyone should play around with them
Week 9, # 21
Ok this took a bit of time. I just could not find any podcast that I liked. I was looking for Business Studies and didn't pull anything up. I finally found something related to Business management. However I did find alot of things on different foods and resturants I liked. I think I liked the food podcast the most because it had pic's.
Week 9, # 20
I found one of the Sai Baba Aarti which I added to You Tube. I love the Sai Aarti.
YouTube is fun. I've also tried Google Video and AOL. These are all about the same. Easy to use and possibly a way to get the word out about library programs...teens in particular. One of these could be part of a libray's teen site or blog.

Week 8, # 19
I browsed Web 2.0 awards list and liked Technorati because If you're really into blogging and reading other people's blogs then this is for you. I would use this occasionally and only for ....say what's being blogged about the current political climate, political candidate blogs, the latest in libraries. This is a very good site.
Week 8, # 18
I opened the Google Docs account, and now I'm trying it out. I love the idea of sharing documents on a site so that they can be edited and reviewed by different people. Actually, from a public library standpoint, the ability to save a document to a website is great. So many times we have customers using public computers who do not have a disc or flashdrive to save their work. Maybe it will be a viable option to steer some customers to Google Docs or Zoho. Then they can access their documents later or email them directly to where they need to go.
Week 7 # 17
I had a little trouble with creating the link for the blog in PB Wiki. I finally got the page linked, though. In the process, I thing I created a new page that may be lost or erased somewhere in the wiki. Actually, I went back to the Favorite Blogs page, and I did see the page listed under recent activity
Week 7,# 16
My only previous knowledge of wikis came from using Wikipedia. This encyclopedia is a great help to a reference librarian, even with the caution that comes from knowing that it is not an authoritative source. For this assignment, I enjoyed looking at wikis that were used for subject guides and book reviews. Using a wiki for patron book reviews seems like a great way to get them involved in the library, while providing a service for other users.

Week 6, # 15
What does Libaray 2.0 mean to me? OK, this is a set-up. Library 2.0 either has meaning, apart from my understanding of it, or it has no meaning, or worse, (and this is what I fear and dread,) it has an evolving meaning depending on what people think and say about it. Hence, the set-up. Which is it?
I've never actually heard anyone speak about Library 2.0 in a conversation, in an actual live conversation that takes place in a particular place at a particular time with people like you and me.

Week 6, # 14
I’ve heard about Technorati for a while now, but never got a chance to really look into it. I always thought it was just a tag or standard when I saw it on other blogs, but now I know a little more about it. I did the search for “library 2.0″ . People are gravitating towards more instant results, and many of these tools fit that “need.” Being able to search tags through Technorati is convenient, as you can search the web for blogs and other sites that have tags or metadata, as opposed to having to go each site and searching for keywords within the text. Now we’re searching for tags that people have attached to the blogs or sites for a reason, as they deem the blog to be about that particular subject. Searching for blogs by tag is also helpful for finding similar blogs or blog entries for one’s needs.
Week 6 # 13

Here's how I define the word tag: (the real-thing, not the game.)
tag v. putting sticky notes on pages you want to look at again.
n. a piece of paper with a descriptive or defining note on it.
Del.icio.us enables you to bookmark webpages and make notes about them and share your collection of favorite webpages with other people, (if you so choose.)
Week 5 # 12
Rollyo.com is an interesting alternative to google searching. You can customize your searches so that you gather infomation from the sites you choose, and you can search using other peoples' collection of websites from which to search. I did a search on my subject which is travel.
Week 5, # 11
I definitely like librarything! This is what I have been looking for---it's just what I need to keep track of books I read, what I think about them, books I want to read, old favorites, and I can even share all this info with other fabulous readers. Librarything is like a home library and a book club all-in-one ... online!
Week 5 # 10

Week 4 # 8 & 9
Well, well, well. This was an interesting assignment. Setting up a bloglines account was somewhat of a deja-vous experience...just seemed like something that had been done before. (I am glad I'm keeping an ongoing list of usernames and passwords in a notebook!)
Anyway, I set up several feeds on my newsreader account. I discovered a cool website: feedster ---and found out you can do search to find out what other people are saying (via blogs) about a topic.

Week 3 # 7
The iphone has captured my attention partly because it is new and partly because it can do so many things!Apparently, people have been waiting for this new technology like others once waited for Alexander Graham Bell to invent the telephone. And, who knows how our world will now change? The iphone can do it all. You can talk on the phone, play music and/or videos, and browse the web! Neat
